What was the Inspiration behind Blue Root?

“The Blue Root Jazz Combo was founded a few years ago to provide musicians with an opportunity to perform outside of a traditional large jazz ensemble. The vision was to create a student-led group that could travel and focus on high-quality music-making. From the start, the members were chosen not only for their talent but also for their dedication and shared passion for the group’s mission. It’s been an incredible experience watching the ensemble grow and evolve while staying true to that original vision.”

What does Blue Root mean to you?

“To me, the Blue Root Jazz Combo is more than just a band it’s a space for creativity, collaboration, and personal growth. It represents the idea that music isn’t just about playing notes; it’s about telling a story, connecting with others, and pushing boundaries. This group has given me the opportunity to work with like-minded musicians who share the same passion and dedication, and together, we’ve built something truly special. It’s a reminder that great music comes from trust, effort, and a shared vision.”
